I'm Still Here!!

Bare with me everyone, I find it so hard to keep up with one blog let alone two, and when I find the time, I upload stuff to the other one first.

I will be updating this more as I have more time. For more current, up to date happenings, check out my main blog, Operation Puppy Raiser.
In the mean time, I will try to at least get some pics up here, if not complete coverage, of Sammy's life.

Thank You everyone for hanging in there!!

Swimming!

I took Sammy, and the rest of the clan, to the local county state park where there is a little lake there. The water was absolutely muddy, but don't think any of them minded :)

Sammy went full speed into the water and then stopped looked around, realizing that it gets deeper, and headed out. He wasn't too sure about it and then stayed at the edge.

"Not sure I want to do this, changed my mind!"
"I'll just stay up here, check out the rocks, sticks, and bugs"

He got back in a little, but stayed at the edge and watched as I threw sticks for the others to retrieve.

"It's okay guys, I'll wait here for ya"

I think they all enjoyed it anyway. even if Sammy was a stinker and stayed out of the water :)

Sammy's Home!

So I am a bit behind on posting, but time was not on my side :) I now have Sammy back! Yay! I missed that naughty little bugger! I met up Lisa and Ellie, her puppy in training at Jenna's house, who is raising Aspen. She also has a German Shepherd and then Lisa brought with her another puppy in training (she was puppy sitting that day)
Before I arrived at Jenna's house, Ellie (lab), Catalpa(lab), Sadie (GSD) and Sammy were all out playing in the back yard. Sammy wasn't doing much playing though :) He likes to keep either by himself or with people, so I'm sure he did his share of snuggling with Lisa and Jenna.

Checking out the scenery and surroundings. Probably watching the labs run laps and taking notes on how a real dog does laps :)

"hmm, I'll go over here guys. I think I see people" He is so funny. It still amazing me how not hyper and exercise deprived these guys are.

Jenna apparently showing the dogs something while Sammy overseas.

See! what a little smoocher he is! I love him for that though, just lay his head on your lap and he's good.

As promised, here is one of the pics of Aspen and Sammy. So now you know what she looks like. She's a bit small for her age at 7 months, but that's okay, she makes up for it in spirit!

Happy Easter!

Happy (belated) Easter Everyone!

Sammy is on vacation, you could say. He is at a friend's house, in Kansas City, Kansas helping out her dog with some things and boy do I miss him!! Who knew you could miss a Greyhound! ;)
In his place, I am puppy sitting a puppy-In-training. Her name is Aspen and she is a 7 month old Yellow Lab. She is so good and learns so quickly, but her time with me is short :( I'll get a pic of her and Sammy together when i pick them up, if I remember :)
Here are a few pics of Sammy and Ellie playing. Ellie is also a puppy-in-training
There sure is something interesting on the other side of the fence....probably a squirrel
Ellie is trying to figure out what Sammy is looking at "Is he for serious?! I don't see anything!"

I guess the big bad squirrel is either running and they're chasing it, or the squirrel is coming after them :)

Big stretch for Sammy

Hanging out in the house. Sammy likes his down time. Nevermind that his downtime consumes 90% of the day

Greyhound America

I have been doing more research on Lurecoursing and finding pros and cons to competing with a retired racer, so I'm taking that into account. I also have not heard back from any clubs that I've been contacting, so not sure yet how to proceed without that local contact. I'll just have to keep trying.

I'm majorly considering attending this grey event in Abilene, Kansas. I've heard a few things about it and thought it would be a good place to educate myself more on lurecoursing, the breed in general, and meet people with the same interests. Is anyone else going? I believe it's June 4-7. I haven't done anything further with registering and all that. Thought I would wait just a bit longer to see if I can take time off from work and such. Is anyone else going? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Clubs

Thanks for the info Lisa! But unfortunately I live in Kansas :( But have no fear! I have found another association. I was looking into AKC at first, but only found a club 2.5 hours away. I then found American Sight hound Field Association. Has Anyone heard any thing good about them? How are they in comparison to other organizations?

I found a local chapter here, and have contacted them, but haven't heard anything. I would love to make my own course and I have an area here in town that would let me if only the whole setup could be portable. I think it would be alot of work for just an hour of practise, if that. Something to consider. I would almost be willing to start a get together to do lure coursing. Maybe not a club right away, but a fun get together. If anyone, is located in North Central Kansas, let me know. I'm just throwing out alot of ideas here :)

Lure Coursing

It's been awhile since I updated, so I took some photos of Sammy and Kansas. He does so well with the cat and at times, I see them snuggling together on the dog beds.

I have now been seriously looking into lure coursing. the only thing is that the closest club is about 2.5 hours away :( I guess it still is an up and coming sport, but I thought there would be more clubs and events out there. Don't worry! I won't give up, I will still be looking for people, trials, and reading up on the rules.
